Members of the Wildfox Resorts team will be joining 30 other employers at the Cwmafan jobs fair hosted at the Cwmafan Community Centre.
Wildfox Resorts is readying the workforce for a unique opportunity, in progressing the development of the first adventure and wellbeing resort, encouraging visitors to Wales and the Afan Valley.
It is estimated that during the planning process, approximately 500 direct temporary jobs will be created through works on-site during construction, with a further 500 indirect temporary jobs generated off-site. Whilst some site preparation work started in 2022 and 2023, the main construction work will be continuous from Spring 2024.
When the resort opens in 2027, we expect there to be approximately 1,000 permanent jobs on site. The resort will be open 24/7 - creating sustained, year-round employment.
Over several years, £20m has been invested in extensive work both on and off-site. This has enabled local community members to gain short-term employment, with a significant number of businesses from the local area and South Wales supporting the site preparation works. They include accommodation providers, surveyors, architects, security services, diesel and water provision, fencing and equipment suppliers and more.
Wildfox Resorts and our consultants, Keystone, are proud to champion opportunities for careers in landscape management, ecology and environmental services, as well as investing time to support local community projects.
Currently, the Wildfox Resorts management team is revising the overall programme of work to ensure that the project is delivered successfully. Our on-site preparation works for 2023 have concluded and work will continue in Spring 2024.
We have established new priorities on brand development, heritage, workforce development, social value and site safety. The rephasing of on-site activity will ensure the resort is delivered effectively, while we maximise the benefits to the community.
We look forward to continuing to progress the Afan Valley resort and remain on track to open in 2027.
The Wildfox team will be working with NPTC Group of Colleges on a workforce development plan to start to shape training courses to ensure local people can get ready for opportunities at the resort.
This will be an inclusive programme offered to all, including young students seeking permanent employment, retraining adults and supporting members of the armed forces. We hope that NPTC Group of Colleges students will get involved in delivery to showcase their talents across a range of impressive sectors.
Businesses interested in becoming part of the Wildfox Resorts supply chain can register their interest through our dedicated web form.
Very interested as a person with an International travel and tourism management Batchelor degree to see this development and to look at the opportunities available as I am also a local woman to the cwmavan area as I grew up there as a child. Please could I have more information on what is happening please as it sounds like such a positive prospect and I do have lots of ideas and motives to share with the management team to take on board from an environmental perspective 🥰
